Divorce

Divorce when there isn’t much to divide

Most of our divorce clients don’t argue over a lake house. They argue over who keeps the lease, the car and the kids’ school.

We handle contested and uncontested divorces for families who qualify. We start with what has to be settled first: where the children live, who pays which bill while the case is open, and whether anyone needs a temporary order.

If you and your spouse already agree, we write it down properly so it holds up later. If you don’t, we get you ready for every hearing and stand next to you at each one.

What a divorce with us looks like

  • We sort the first month

Temporary custody, support and who stays in the home, so nobody is guessing while the case runs.

  • We file and serve

We prepare the complaint, file it and arrange service, or answer one you’ve been served with.

  • We trade financial papers

Pay stubs, tax returns, debts. We tell you exactly which ones and help you find them.

  • We settle, or we try it

Most cases settle at mediation or at the courthouse door. If yours doesn’t, you’ll know the trial plan for every witness before the day.

Divorce questions

Can I get divorced if I can’t find my spouse?

Often, yes. The court lets you serve by publication or another method after a real search. We do the search with you and show the judge what we tried.

Do I have to move out?

Not on your own say-so, and usually not without an order. Don’t leave the home or the children before you talk to us; it can shape what the court does later.

How long does it take?

An agreed divorce can finish in a few months after the waiting period your state sets. A contested one with children takes longer. We give you an honest range at the first visit.
